Registrations for winter sports are now open for the 2026-2027 season.  Please pay close attention to registration requirements and deadlines.  Once SJB TeamSnap registration closes, there will be no late additions.  YOU MUST BE REGISTERED TO TRY OUT.

NOTE TO COACHES:  If you are coaching or think you might coach winter sports, please make sure your coaching profile is up to date.  You can see all the Coach Requirements on the SJB Athletics Webpage.

SJB CYM BASKETBALL 
(Registration Closes Friday 10/16/26)

Boys and Girls CYM Basketball registration is open for the 2026-27 season.  This program is open to all boys & girls Grades 3rd-8th.  To be eligible to play for SJB you need to be either an SJB Student, SJB Religious Education or other Parish that does not offer this sport. 

• Tryouts will begin the week of 10/19 
• Practices are set to begin early November
• Season runs from November - February

This is a 2-part registration:

SJB K-2 BASKETBALL 
(Registration Closes Friday 10/30/26)

Boys and Girls K-2 Basketball registration is open for the 2026-27 season.  This program is open to all boys & girls Grades Kindergarten - 2nd.  

• Teams will be assigned in November
• All practices are Saturday mornings with the Girls playing at SJB and Boys at St. Mark’s HS
• Practices set to begin the first weekend in December
• Season runs from November - February

SJB 1ST & 2ND CO-ED LITTLE LANCERS BASKETBALL **NEW PROGRAM**
(Registration Closes Friday 10/30/26)

Co-Ed 1st & 2nd Little Lancers Basketball registration is open for the 2026-27 season.  This program is open to all boys & girls Grades 1st - 2nd.  This is an advanced offering in combination with our K-2 programs which will require 4-days of basketball per week.

• All players must be enrolled in SJB K-2 to play in Little Lancers League
• Practices will be 2 nights per week, Saturday Clinics and Sunday Games
• There will be 8 games on Sunday afternoons starting in January
• Games are 4 quarters, 8 minutes each with a running clock
• Season runs from December - February

SJB EC-2 WRESTLING **NEW PROGRAM**
(Registration Closes Friday 10/30/26)

Boys EC-2 Wrestling registration is open for the 2026-27 season.  This instructional/clinic program is open to all boys in Grades EC3 - 2nd.  

• Practices will begin the first weekend in December.
• All clinics are Saturday mornings at St. Mark’s HS.
  • EC3 - K (1-hour session)
  • Grades 1-2 (1-hour session)
• Parents will be notified in November with practice dates/times
• Season runs from December - February

Congratulations to SJB 8th Grade Student, Nick F.

Nick and the Newark National Senior All-Star Team won the Senior League East Regional Championship in Bangor, Maine, to earn a spot in the Senior League Baseball World Series in Easley, South Carolina.  The team has won their two opening World Series games advancing in the tournament. 

They are back in action this Friday, August 7th at 7:30pm in the US championship game.  The game will be streaming live on ESPN+.  Let’s all tune in and cheer Nick and his team on to victory!"

Once you have created or login to your account, you are required each season to enroll your child into an eligible sport(s) program.

• Prior to adding a child to account, please have ready an upload to provide proof-of documentation for proper affiliation.

• This is required only once when adding a child to household account for the first time. Acceptable documentation is listed below:

The Girls Softball team won the CYM championship on Monday night. They defeated SMM, the previously undefeated number-one seed, by a score of 17-4. Huge thanks to Jay and Brian for coaching the girls to this victory.

2026 SJB CARNIVAL 60th ANNIVERSARY

The 60th Annual Parish Carnival is almost here just 2½ weeks away and we need volunteers like Pizza Fritta needs powdered sugar. As of this morning, over 80% of our volunteer spots are still empty, and even the fried Oreos are starting to look worried.

This beloved tradition has been part of our parish family for six decades, and it can only continue if our community rallies behind it—not just by attending and sponsoring, but by volunteering.

Why does it matter? Because this one event is the major fundraiser that fuels the entire Athletic Association: 70+ teams, 11 sports, 900+ athletes, and even more opportunities coming next year (Field Hockey, Wrestling, Girls Soccer). Their commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and representing SJB with integrity has been inspiring to witness. We are excited to share that registration for the Spring sports season is now open!  The following programs are available this spring:

7th and 8th Graders
Baseball (Boys) – Registration is available at: Baseball Registration

Softball (Girls) – Registration is available at: Softball Registration

• Games played at local fields
• Games are played on weeknights and weekends
• Athletes can play both travel and CYM baseball/Softball

6th, 7th and 8th Grade Boys
Spring Volleyball – Registration is available at : Spring Boys Volleyball

• Games may be during the week or the weekend
• Usually 5 teams for CYO, roughly 10 games for the season and Playoffs at the end of the season
• Meets held at area tracks/schools throughout New Castle County
• Experienced & inexperienced athletes are welcome
• ONLY Varsity division (6th-8th graders)

Grades 3-8, Coed
Track and Field – Registration is available at : Track & Field Registration

• Meets held generally on weekends with a few during the week
• Both smaller and larger sized meets will occur.
• Meets held at area tracks/schools throughout New Castle County

Practices are expected to begin the week of March 3rd. Coaches will be reaching out with additional details, including practice schedules and expectations, toward the end of February.

We encourage interested students to sign up as soon as possible so we can plan teams and schedules accordingly.

It's that time of year for SJB Boys Spring Volleyball Signups!!!  

I am happy to say we are ready for our 4th year for the boys volleyball season, and hope that we can continue to grow this program!  (The past 3 years have been at a Varsity level to include 6th, 7th and 8th graders. We are currently working to find interest for the JV level to include 5th graders.)

If your son is interested in trying something new this spring season, have them sign up and join the boys volleyball team.  

* Sign ups are open to 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys from SJB or parishioners of the school.  Please spread the word if you know of anyone interested and share the link.  

Depending on the number of boys that sign up, will depend on the number of teams

I would prefer 10-12 players on a team 

• Practices will be held 2x a week
• Games are held during the week and/or on the weekend
